James "Bud" Dodson

James “Bud” Dodson was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2021 becoming the 48th Member to be inducted.

James joined the THPA in 1988 and from the beginning has been a force in the THPA. Besides pitching in numerous THPA Tournaments yearly, he spends a lot of time traveling to Benefits and Charity Events promoting THPA Horseshoes and soliciting new Members.

James was instrumental in helping start the Liberty Hill Horseshoe Club. When Othana Donnell started helping to build West Texas Clubs, James was the first one she called to help get THPA Members from Central and other areas of Texas to go to Littlefield, Dumas, Borger, Snyder, & Amarillo to help those Clubs. By his Great Example, James helped these West Texas Clubs build solid Memberships and host excellent Tournaments.

James served for 2 years as President of the THPA. Because of his talents, James was one of a select group that rewrote the THPA Rules. He has been selected for numerous Committees to help improve the THPA. James has played and helped in many, many THPA Tournaments, while buying Raffle Tickets, Shirts, & Caps to the support our THPA Clubs.

When the NHPA World Tournament came to Oklahoma, James was the first Texas there to help. One of the things James did was to run their Tractors to help set up for the World Tournament. The NHPA Set Up Committee stated they would NOT have been set up on-time without the assistance James provided.

James Dodson is a well-qualified Member of the THPA Hall of Fame.
