Charlie Posey

Charlie was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame at the 1988 Texas State Singles Championship tournament in Marble Falls, TX. Charlie began pitching horseshoes in 1975 after reading an article on organized horseshoes in an Arlington newspaper.

* THPA Treasurer: 1977, 1979

* THPA Secretary: 1978, 1980.

* THPA President: 1983.

A driving force in the Arlington Ironbenders Horseshoe Club, Charlie was also responsible for the construction of horseshoe pits in Stephenville and Mt. Pleasant. He was a two-time Texas Mens State Champion in 1978 and 1979.

Charlie always said that fellowship with old and new friends and competition is what he liked best about horseshoe pitching. That love of fellowship led to the renaming of the THPA Sportsmanship Award in his honor.
